As part of our contribution to the MGCC`s historic John O` Groats to Lands End MG100 Cavalcade, the Midlands Centre welcomed its turn to transport the life size effigy of Cecil Kimber from Longbridge to the British Motor Museum at Gaydon.
On Tuesday 14 May some 22 cars gathered outside Q Gate at MGUK`s facility ready to record Cecil`s presence before embarking on a scenic tour of some 38 miles to the BMM. The weather was hood down for those that could, and sunny and warm for those that could not. Participants could not quite believe we could get to the BMM via a succession of gorgeous country roads but soon found out that no motorways were involved.
Upon arrival the party was able to gather round Cecil`s Old Number One, specially drawn out for us, and after some fiddling Cecil once again sat in the seat of his successful trials car. A fitting tribute from our Centre and recorded by numerous photographs.
Some of you will already be aware of the shocking news that our friend & Centre committee colleague Paul Hollingworth passed away suddenly on the morning of Sunday, 17th March following a heart attack. Paul was Secretary to the MGCC Midland Centre committee, and heavily involved with the Centre’s Welsh Rallye, together with being joint Natter leader with the North Worcestershire MGCC.
As a result, the Midland Centre AGM, due to take place on Monday 18th March, has been postponed to a future date.
Further information relating to Paul will be circulated as and when available. In the meantime, if any of you have Paul’s email address in your computer address books, please delete it immediately to avoid any mails being sent to his home.
Thank you.

Club Meets (also known as ‘Natters’ or ‘Pub Meets’) are monthly meetings that take place up and down the Country throughout the year and are an opportunity to talk MG over a pint!
The Midland Centre has a choice of 15 venues holding regular meetings ( or 'Natters' in MG jargon) on different evenings, one of which should be near you, so please drop in and meet other like-minded enthusiasts over a drink or meal. Some of these are joint meetings with our friends at the MG Octagon Car Club and/or the MG Owners Club.
If attending a natter for the first time, we do advise checking with the relevant contact. Whilst we make every effort to ensure details are correct, please check with the organisers before embarking on a long journey.
The link to the Midland Centre website can give you great information of all 15 of the meetings, so have a look and see if there is one near you, you may like to give it a try and continue with some great MG conversations, or even just meeting some interesting Car folk.

The Club has secured two prestigious awards against stiff opposition.
The first was from the Octane Historic Motoring Awards held at the Dorchester Hotel on November 15 and was presented to The MG Car Club for ‘Club of the Year’. The key factor for this award was the MG and Triumph 100 event at Silverstone.
The second was the ‘Motoring Spectacle Award’ and was awarded on Thursday November 23 at the Royal Automobile Club as part of their Historic Awards ceremony.
An increasing amount of correspondence and general communication in business is being conducted using websites and electronic mail, which does make communication easier, faster and cheaper for clubs like the MGCC to interact with its members.
However, this can only be successful if members' details at Kimber House are accurate and up-to-date. To ensure that you receive all of the latest information, the Committee recommend all Midland Centre members check their own personal details for accuracy with Kimber House.Use this space to add more details about your site, a customer quote, or to talk about important news.
Members can now make amendments on the MG Car Club Website.
